Why Choose Wood?

These cutting boards are built to last.

My cutting boards are made out of North American hardwoods, a renewable resource, which have been chosen based on their hardness and tight grained characteristics.  Cutting boards made out of these woods, using the end grain orientation, provide a cutting surface that is extremely durable and will last for years.

Wood cutting boards are beautiful.

The beauty of the wood gives your kitchen an added accent.  I have had many customers comment that my cutting boards are "too pretty to use", but I believe the real beauty comes through after the boards start to show the daily use they are designed for.  With the various sizes and different woods to choose from, you'll be able to find the style and functionality you're looking for.

Wood keeps your knives sharp.

You can spend a lot of money for a "good knife" and will want to do everything possible to preserve its edge.  Many cutting boards available today are made with or from material that will destroy your cutlery.  A few examples of these materials are glass and natural or man made materials that contain more adhesive than fiber.  Wood cutting boards will keep your knives in great shape.

They're easy to clean and maintain.

The sanitation of wood cutting boards is probably the topic I spend the most time discussing with customers.  There is a lot of information on the web on this subject but I have attached a link which I believe provides a non-biased analysis of the subject.    http://faculty.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/faculty/docliver/Research/cuttingboard.htm

I provide an easy care sheet with every board I sell which covers when and how to apply mineral oil / bees wax.  Another section discusses when to use soap and water to clean your board and when to sanitize with vinegar or a bleach solution.
